A growing multidisciplinary consultancy in Sydney wants an Architectural Draftsperson who also enjoys planning work. Much of the job is documenting existing houses and medium-density buildings, including homes being reinstated or redesigned after fire, tree or vehicle damage, and turning site measurements into accurate drawings.
You will also prepare Development Application documents, write Statements of Environmental Effects, check LEPs and DCPs, lodge on the planning portal and coordinate with consultants. Sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities
- Measure existing residential and medium-density buildings and turn the conditions into detailed architectural drawings
- Prepare preliminary plans and help identify structural elements in the documentation
- Write Statements of Environmental Effects and other planning documents
- Assess relevant LEPs, DCPs and development requirements
- Prepare Development Application packages, lodge them on the planning portal and track DA progress
- Pass information between designers and specialist consultants, including heritage, bushfire, stormwater, structural, civil, surveying and arboricultural consultants
- Produce professional 2D AutoCAD drawings in model and paper space
- Apply drafting standards consistently and check drawings for accuracy, completeness and consistency
- Spot technical or documentation problems and fix them efficiently
- Communicate project needs with clients, consultants and colleagues
- Manage your own workload and meet agreed deadlines
- Offer practical ideas and support improvements as the consultancy grows
Requirements & Eligibility
- You have demonstrated experience in architectural drafting, planning or a related professional field
- Your 2D AutoCAD skills are proven
- You have drawn existing buildings and read measurements and site conditions accurately
- You understand residential and medium-density architectural documentation
- You have prepared or supported Development Applications
- You know NSW LEPs, DCPs and planning requirements
- You have worked on planning documents such as Statements of Environmental Effects
- You understand drafting standards and how a drawing office runs
- You are precise, analytical and good at solving technical problems
- You coordinate smoothly with several consultants at once
- You plan your time well and own your work with limited supervision
- Your written and spoken English is professional
- You deal confidently with clients and project stakeholders
- You have a working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe applications
- You have relevant qualifications and/or substantial practical industry experience; experienced architectural drafters are encouraged to apply
