Experienced bakers thinking of work bidesh, here is a Brisbane role worth reading. A busy bakery café there bakes bread, pastries and cakes fresh on site each day and makes custom celebration cakes to order, and it wants a full-time Baker to join its kitchen.
The job is permanent at 38 hours per week. You will handle daily baking and also finish pastries and cakes with care. The business is established and growing.

Key Responsibilities
- Check raw materials and weigh and measure each batch's ingredients
- Mix doughs, batters, cake mixes, pastry and fillings, and shape and portion them into breads, rolls, cakes and tarts
- Prepare trays and tins, load the ovens and control temperatures and baking times
- Glaze, ice and decorate using icing, cream, chocolate, fondant and sugar paste
- Make custom celebration cakes ordered by customers
- Plan daily production, and price, pack and present products in the café
- Run and clean mixers, sheeters, provers and other bakery equipment, keeping food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards
- Help create new recipes and products, and supervise and train junior bakers and kitchen staff
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III or IV in Baking or Patisserie (a higher culinary arts or patisserie qualification also counts)
- At least 1 year as a Baker, Pastry Chef or Pastrycook in a commercial bakery, patisserie or hotel kitchen
- Strong hands-on skills in pastry, cakes and decorating
- Sound knowledge of hygiene and food safety
- Ready to work early mornings, weekends and a rotating roster
- Desirable: fondant work and custom cake design
- Desirable: kitchen supervision or team leadership, with customer-facing bakery or café experience also desirable
