A gastropub opening soon in Rotorua needs three experienced Bartenders for its first team. The owners want people who have already run a real bar, know their drinks and stay calm when the room fills up.
Expect to mix cocktails to house recipes, pour beer, wine and spirits with confidence, and look after guests from the first order to the last. Stock checks, the till and opening and closing the bar are part of each shift. Sponsorship is available for eligible overseas applicants, subject to job check approval and immigration requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Mix cocktails to the venue's recipes and standards, and prepare other drinks with and without alcohol
- Pour beer, wine and spirits and explain the range to guests
- Greet guests warmly, take their orders and respond quickly to what they need
- Run transactions on the POS system and handle cash accurately, including end-of-shift counts
- Keep an eye on drink supplies, rotate stock and help with ordering and inventory
- Keep the bar and service areas spotless
- Serve alcohol responsibly and follow New Zealand rules for licensed premises
- Set up the bar at opening and close it down at the end of the night
- Back up the rest of the team when service gets busy
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years of bartending experience in a professional setting
- Proven hands-on skill with cocktails and drinks service, plus working knowledge of beer, wine and spirits
- Evidence of your relevant employment history where required
- Good communication and strong customer service
- Confidence, reliability and professionalism in a busy hospitality venue
- Available to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Applicants must satisfy the New Zealand immigration requirements that apply
- Where an English test is required, applicants must meet current Immigration New Zealand requirements or hold an accepted exemption
