Breakfast and brunch orders stack up fast at a busy Brisbane café, and the kitchen needs a full-time Brunch Chef who stays calm when the dockets pile up. The roster is Monday to Friday, daytime only.

You will cook breakfast and brunch plates to a high, steady standard, keep portions and presentation right, and take charge of prep and service. Training new kitchen staff and leading by example are part of the role, and you will work closely with the Head Chef/Owner on standards. Knowledge of Asian cooking is a plus. Sponsorship is available for an appropriately qualified and experienced candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cook breakfast and brunch dishes to a high and steady standard, using strong practical skills every service
  • Keep food quality, portions and presentation consistent
  • Take charge of kitchen prep and service needs, managing tasks well during peak periods
  • Keep food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards high and the kitchen ready for service
  • Work confidently on your own and with the team
  • Train and develop new kitchen staff and give hands-on leadership during service
  • Work closely with the Head Chef/Owner to uphold kitchen standards
  • Help build a positive, professional workplace

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven professional experience as a Chef
  • Experience in café, brunch or breakfast operations is highly regarded
  • Strong practical cooking and food preparation, with quality held during busy service
  • Able to take ownership of kitchen responsibilities
  • Previous experience training or mentoring kitchen staff, with strong leadership and team coordination
  • Reliable, punctual, well organised and positive in your approach
  • Good communication and people skills
  • A strong grasp of food safety and kitchen hygiene, with high standards of cleanliness and presentation
  • Asian cuisine knowledge or experience is an advantage
  • Able to work the required Monday-to-Friday daytime roster
  • Relevant professional experience and skills must be demonstrable and verifiable
