House frames, roof structures, floors and formwork: a Melbourne builder with residential and commercial projects needs a full-time Carpenter who can handle all of it.
The work starts with the drawings. You will work out sizes, materials and the order of tasks, then measure, cut and shape timber, stand wall frames, set joists and sub-floors and fit door and window frames. Outside there is fascia, cladding and roof sheathing; inside there are prefabricated fittings to install and adjust until they sit right. Repairs, alterations and temporary formwork for concrete round out the job. Suitable qualified candidates may be considered for visa sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities
- Read architectural and construction drawings to plan carpentry work, including sizes, materials and sequence
- Measure, mark, cut and shape timber and other materials
- Build wall frames, roof structures, floor joists and sub-floors, fixing parts in true alignment
- Fit timber door and window frames and related building parts
- Complete fascia, wall cladding, roof sheathing and other outside timber work
- Install prefabricated and timber fittings and adjust them for a good fit and finish
- Repair, alter and replace damaged timber structures
- Build and strip temporary timber formwork for concrete
- Use hand tools, power tools and equipment safely, keeping quality high and following site safety rules
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III in Carpentry or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Proven hands-on experience in residential and/or commercial construction
- Strong practical knowledge of timber framing, structural carpentry and general carpentry, installation and repair work
- Confident with carpentry hand tools, power tools and related equipment
- Able to read construction drawings and specifications accurately
- Strong skills in measuring, cutting, fitting and installing, with an understanding of construction methods and site safety procedures
- Able to work alone and as a strong member of a construction team
- Willing to meet relevant Australian construction and site requirements
