2 Chef positions are open in Canberra, in the Australian Capital Territory, with a small and experienced kitchen team cooking European and modern Australian food. Each chef runs a section during service and needs to know it well.
The team is only four people, so everyone is hands-on. You will prep, cook, plate with care, watch portions and waste, and cover other sections when needed. Evening, weekend and split shifts are part of the roster. Your qualifications and work history will be checked, so honest, verifiable details matter.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook European and modern Australian dishes to a high standard, following set recipes and methods
- Run an assigned kitchen section during service
- Complete daily prep efficiently and accurately
- Keep presentation, portion control and food quality consistent
- Work as part of a four-person kitchen team and help service run smoothly when it gets busy
- Watch stock and ingredient use to keep food wastage down
- Uphold food hygiene, cleanliness and workplace safety rules
- Support other sections when the kitchen needs it
- Work evening, weekend and split-shift services with reliable, hands-on performance
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher, as a relevant trade qualification in Commercial Cookery
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in modern Australian or European cuisine
- Demonstrated experience in a fine-dining or quality-focused commercial kitchen
- Chef de Partie or section-level experience is highly regarded
- Strong all-round cooking and prep skills
- Able to independently manage an allocated kitchen section
- Proven ability to keep food quality high while controlling wastage
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures, and comfortable in a small professional team
- Available for evening, weekend and split-shift rosters
- Qualifications and employment history must be genuine and verifiable
