Key Responsibilities

  • Run daily kitchen operations and service delivery, taking accountability for overall standards and performance
  • Lead, supervise and develop chefs and the kitchen team, training and mentoring junior staff
  • Keep food quality, presentation and portions consistent, making sure recipes and methods are followed
  • Coordinate prep, cooking and service
  • Help with menu planning, specials and seasonal dishes
  • Watch food, labour and operating costs
  • Handle stock ordering, inventory and suppliers
  • Put strong waste-reduction and stock-control habits in place
  • Keep food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards strict
  • Track kitchen workflow and make it more efficient
  • Work with venue management and the wider hospitality team
  • Lead the team through high-volume and peak services in a structured, positive kitchen
  • Spot operational problems and put practical fixes in place

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior kitchen professional
  • Able to lead a commercial kitchen independently
  • Strong hands-on cooking and prep skills, and willingness to take an active role in the kitchen
  • Experience managing kitchen teams and delegating work
  • Understanding of food costing, labour control, stock management and wastage
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements
  • Experience in pubs, hotels, clubs or other high-volume hospitality settings is advantageous
  • Able to keep quality and consistency during busy services, working calmly under pressure
  • Strong organisation and time management
  • A professional approach to leading and developing staff
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant culinary qualifications and/or substantial experience in the industry
