Early starts, daylight finishes. A busy breakfast and lunch café in Orange, NSW wants an experienced Cook who likes structure and good teamwork.

Each day begins with prep. You check priorities with the team leader, then run your own section through service, plating food to the café's standards. When it gets busy, you help the rest of the kitchen and keep talking with your colleagues. Clean equipment, a tidy bench and safe food handling are expected all shift. The team values people who take feedback well and stay positive under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Finish daily food preparation to the kitchen's requirements, after checking priorities with the team leader
  • Organise and run your assigned section during service
  • Prepare and present food to the required standard every time
  • Back up the wider kitchen team in busy periods
  • Keep clear communication with colleagues throughout service
  • Keep your workstation organised and efficient, and clean equipment and work areas during the shift
  • Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace procedures
  • Help build a cooperative, professional kitchen

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, café or hospitality setting
  • Good understanding of food preparation and how a kitchen operates
  • Able to work efficiently in fast-paced service
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a positive and reliable attitude
  • Willing to take constructive feedback and improve
  • Able to work on your own while supporting the wider team
  • Committed to a clean workplace and food safety
  • Available for early morning and daytime shifts
  • Candidates must be able to give accurate information and documents to verify their identity and experience
