Big paddocks, big budgets and a big team: this senior Farming Manager role in Western Australia covers cropping, pasture, fodder and irrigation across extensive land. You will set the plan for each season, control spending and capital works, and lead the supervisors, overseers and machinery operators who carry it out.
The rotation includes oats, barley, wheat, vetch and irrigated sorghum. Agronomists will be your partners on soil and pasture, while GPS, precision tools and farm data shape your calls. The business wants measurable gains in output and efficiency, and it gives you plenty of freedom to deliver them, with experienced agronomy and livestock teams alongside. Key Responsibilities
- Head up farming work across extensive agricultural land
- Lead, train and grow the farm supervisors, overseers and machinery operators, including staff planning and performance
- Set seasonal operating plans that match production goals, available resources and conditions on the ground
- Run the cropping, pasture, fodder and irrigation programmes, growing oats, barley, wheat, vetch and irrigated sorghum
- Control yearly budgets, forecasts, spending and capital investment
- Measure productivity, crop and pasture results and running costs
- Partner with agronomists to lift soil health, pasture establishment and crop results
- Match fodder supply to the needs of livestock and feed operations
- Find and deliver land improvement, productivity and capital projects that boost efficiency and asset value over time
- Use GPS, precision farming, digital management systems and farm data to guide planning
- Protect the land through sustainable soil and land practices
- Drive a safe, accountable workplace that keeps improving
- Oversee contractors, suppliers and service providers, and keep internal teams informed
- Answer for the operation's performance and financial results
Requirements & Eligibility
- Demonstrated senior-level background in farming or agricultural operations, with proven management of cropping, livestock or mixed farming environments
- Deep practical knowledge of large-scale agricultural production systems
- Demonstrated grasp of agronomy, chemical use and weed control
- Hands-on with farm budgets, forecasts, production plans and cost control
- Strong knowledge of farm machinery and modern farming methods, plus experience with GPS, precision agriculture and digital farm-management systems
- Demonstrated skill in leading and growing agricultural teams
- Sound commercial and operational judgement when making decisions
- A record of responsible farm management with measurable results you can show
- Strong planning, communication and stakeholder management
- Agriculture, Agribusiness or related tertiary qualification highly regarded
- ChemCert or equivalent qualification advantageous
- Current driver's licence required, with HR or MC licence advantageous
- Able to meet applicable Australian employment and visa requirements
