Few hospitality leaders get to open a property and shape it from nothing. In Wellington, New Zealand, a brand-new lifestyle venue with guest stays is looking for a General Manager to take full ownership of it.

The right person brings proven leadership, deep operating know-how and a history of building strong teams. Your job is to put standards in place, grow a culture people want to be part of and make every guest's visit memorable. People from overseas who have verified hospitality experience are welcome to apply, and the right candidate can receive visa sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take charge of the entire property and how the business performs
  • Open the new venue and set up its operations, putting systems, processes and service standards in place from the start
  • Coach and develop department heads so they hit their targets
  • Grow a culture built on teamwork, accountability and excellent service
  • Give every guest a stay that is consistently excellent
  • Run rooms, housekeeping, maintenance, guest services and the food and beverage side
  • Watch revenue, operating costs and labour, and use data to improve results and guest feedback
  • Catch issues early, fix them practically and keep every department talking to each other
  • Back staff training, engagement and career development
  • Lead by the property's values, greet guests warmly and keep improving the operation

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven senior experience running hospitality, lodging or lifestyle properties
  • Has led teams across several departments and handled complex operations
  • A record of hospitality leadership that delivered measurable results
  • Has built teams, service standards and processes in a fast-moving setting
  • Mixes hands-on management with strategic planning for the business
  • Knows guest stay operations, guest experience and the drivers of profit
  • Experience in forecasting, budgeting, cost control and managing labour
  • Communicates strongly and can motivate and influence varied teams, making confident, practical decisions when operations get hard
  • Leadership experience in food and beverage is highly regarded
  • Passionate about people, travel, hospitality and creating memorable moments
