Major mining operations in New South Wales need HD Mechanics, based from Newcastle, who know heavy mobile equipment inside out. You will service and repair machines from makers such as Sandvik, Epiroc, CAT, Komatsu and Hitachi, diagnose faults and help keep critical gear available and safe.
The work runs on a 2/1 roster, with an initial 12-month contract that may be extended. If you have kept heavy plant running on Gulf or Malaysian sites, describe it carefully.

Key Responsibilities
- Service and maintain heavy mobile mining equipment, including planned preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections
- Diagnose mechanical faults accurately and trace underlying performance problems
- Repair or replace mechanical components as needed
- Work on Sandvik, Epiroc, CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi and similar machines
- Use technical documents and diagnostic data during repairs
- Keep equipment available and downtime to a minimum
- Follow site procedures for all maintenance work and record repairs, inspections and servicing
- Keep safety standards high on every task
- Work closely with site teams to support reliable operations
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel, HD or Mobile Plant Mechanic
- At least 5 years of post-trade industry experience
- Proven experience on heavy mobile plant or mining machinery, including major OEM equipment
- Experience with Sandvik, Epiroc, CAT, Komatsu or Hitachi equipment
- Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and mechanical repair skills
- A work history backed by relevant employment documents, showing genuine hands-on technical experience
- Willing to work a 2/1 roster
- Able to work safely in a demanding mining environment
- Able to meet applicable visa and sponsorship requirements
