Trucks, trailers and commercial vehicles keep rolling into this heavy vehicle workshop in Victoria, and the team is growing. It wants a qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic who enjoys tracking down a hard fault as much as finishing a clean service.
Work is a mix of scheduled servicing, repairs, diagnostics, preventative maintenance and warranty jobs. You will use the workshop's diagnostic gear to find what is wrong, fix or replace mechanical and electrical parts, road-test the result and record what you did. Quality matters here more than speed. Suitable applicants may be eligible for visa sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities
- Service heavy diesel vehicles on a routine schedule
- Repair and maintain trucks, trailers and other heavy vehicles
- Find complex mechanical, electrical and electronic faults
- Carry out preventative maintenance and safety inspections
- Handle warranty repairs where needed
- Work with the workshop's diagnostic tools and equipment
- Pin down the cause of each fault and recommend the right repair
- Repair or swap out mechanical and electrical components, then test vehicles and equipment afterwards
- Make sure repairs meet technical standards and keep accurate job records
- Follow safety procedures and workshop rules, and keep the workshop clean to a high standard
- Help other members of the workshop team when needed
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Mechanical Technology or equivalent
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience as a heavy diesel mechanic
- A background servicing and repairing trucks and heavy vehicles
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and a strong grasp of heavy vehicle mechanical systems
- Experience across multiple heavy vehicle brands is desirable
- Previous truck and trailer repair work is highly regarded
- Able to work alone and as part of a team
- A high level of attention to detail and a commitment to quality work
- Strong safety awareness
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- HC Licence is desirable
- Automotive Air Conditioning Licence is desirable
