When a prime mover sits in the yard, freight stops moving. A growing Brisbane transport operation with a modern heavy fleet and a purpose-built workshop wants a Heavy Road Transport Mechanic who finds faults fast and fixes them properly.
The work covers scheduled and preventative servicing, breakdown call-outs, engine, gearbox and driveline repairs, component rebuilds and careful inspections of multi-combination trucks. You would keep service records accurate, work a structured local roster and keep the workshop tidy and safe. Sponsorship is available for eligible overseas candidates, and 482 visa holders may be considered for a transfer.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and complete preventative and scheduled servicing across the heavy road fleet
- Track down mechanical faults and choose the best fix
- Work on prime movers, including Volvo and Mack Titan units, and multi-combination rigs
- Overhaul engines, gearboxes, drivelines and other major assemblies, including full component rebuilds
- Inspect trucks and catch problems before they cause breakdowns
- Head out to breakdowns and troubleshoot on the spot when needed
- Hold the fleet to high safety standards and get vehicles back on the road quickly
- Complete service records and maintenance paperwork
- Handle workshop tools and diagnostic gear correctly and safely
- Liaise with transport and workshop staff so trucks are ready when needed
- Follow health, safety and environmental rules and keep the workshop tidy
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic trade qualification
- Proven experience working as a Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic
- Strong road transport and heavy vehicle maintenance experience, including demonstrated work on heavy multi-combination trucks
- Volvo and/or Mack Titan prime mover experience highly regarded
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs
- Experience completing major mechanical repairs and component rebuilds
- Current C Class Australian driver's licence essential
- HR licence highly regarded
- Able to work a structured local roster
- Strong safety awareness, attention to detail and a reliable approach to maintenance and repair work
- Good communication and teamwork skills
