New machines and more automation are arriving at a Queenstown packaging site, and the team needs a Machine Operator who already understands industrial gear. Day to day, you would prepare lines, handle changeovers, catch faults and stoppages early and keep output moving through packing, kegging and the warehouse.

Your experience will help decide how the new equipment is tuned, and in time the job could become a specialist post covering packaging machinery, automation and production optimisation. Eligible international applicants may be considered for sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate production and packing machines with safety and pace
  • Prepare equipment before each run, switch products over and fine-tune settings
  • Keep an eye on machines throughout a run and act on any drop in performance
  • Notice faults, stoppages or strange machine behaviour and sort them out using your mechanical know-how
  • Handle routine cleaning, greasing and basic upkeep
  • Check output quality and how the equipment is running
  • Fill in production logs and any paperwork the job needs
  • Stick to food safety, quality and workplace safety rules
  • Pitch in with packing, kegging, warehouse tasks and shifting finished goods
  • Help install and commission new machines, then test and fine-tune the automated ones
  • Suggest fixes that mean fewer stoppages, better machine output and a smoother flow
  • Be accountable for how your allocated machines perform and the condition they are in

Requirements & Eligibility

  • At least 2 years in relevant machine operating or manufacturing work
  • A background running production or industrial machines, whether as a Machine Operator, Production Operator or similar
  • Sound mechanical know-how and a knack for troubleshooting
  • Can set machines up and adjust them precisely
  • Recognises equipment faults and digs into what caused them
  • Has done basic mechanical maintenance and looked after equipment
  • Puts safety and quality first and watches machines and finished goods closely
  • Works hands-on and independently, taking ownership of machine performance
  • Keen on automation, modern machines and production technology
  • Packaging, canning, bottling, food or beverage production experience is advantageous
  • Can back up the machinery and production experience you claim with evidence
