Big steel frames go up one accurate cut at a time. A construction team with long-term work in Western Australia needs a qualified Metal Fabricator who is happy on site, not just in a workshop.
Most of the job happens where the structure stands. You start from drawings, weld symbols and work orders, get your gear ready, then cut, straighten and fit sections and plates. Joints are bolted or welded, from tacks to full structural runs in MMAW, GMAW, FCAW or GTAW as the task needs. Some days you rework old steel by drilling and cutting. When pieces are lifted into place, you work hand in hand with the riggers.
The team wants people who take pride in precise work, keep themselves and others safe and pull their weight in a crew.

Key Responsibilities
- Work out each on-site task from structural drawings, weld symbols, specs and work orders
- Set up the materials, hand tools and portable fabrication machines you need
- Take measurements, mark out and cut steel sections and plates to size
- Straighten, bend and form steel so it fits as drawn
- Join members with bolts or welds, from tack welds to finished structural welds in MMAW, GMAW, FCAW or GTAW
- Work with riggers and lifting gear to move components into position safely
- Rework existing steel structures by cutting, drilling and welding
- Hold quality and safety standards on busy construction sites
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised fabrication or boilermaking trade qualification
- Minimum three years of post-trade structural steel experience
- Proven competency welding with MMAW, GMAW and FCAW
- Can read structural engineering drawings and welding specifications
- Current White Card and current Working at Heights certification
- Physically able to do on-site fabrication in demanding conditions
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport
- Australian work rights or eligibility for Skills in Demand (subclass 482) sponsorship
