A commercial broiler farm near Tamworth needs a Poultry Farm Manager to run the whole growing cycle. You would lead the farm team from bird placement to pick-up and keep the flock healthy and productive.

The work is hands-on. You would watch growth and welfare, set feed, water and shed climate, plan rosters and keep biosecurity tight between batches. You would also look after the farm's generators, drinkers and fans and arrange repairs when needed. Vets, technical advisers and the processor's team would be part of your week, and you would report results to senior managers. The role includes living on site and an after-hours roster.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run the full broiler production cycle, from placement to collection
  • Lead the farm team, prepare rosters and give each person clear tasks to meet daily targets
  • Check bird health, welfare, growth and flock results, and correct problems quickly
  • Control feed, water, ventilation and shed climate
  • Apply strong biosecurity, animal welfare and workplace health and safety practices across the farm
  • Organise shed clean-outs, preparation and turnaround between batches
  • Look after feeding, drinking, ventilation and generator systems, and arrange repairs when faults appear
  • Keep accurate farm, production and compliance records using farm management software
  • Work with vets, technical specialists and the processor, and report results to senior management
  • Take part in after-hours and on-call duties
  • Look for ways to improve farm operations

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Commercial broiler poultry experience
  • Previous experience as a Poultry Farm Manager or an experienced 2IC
  • Proven ability to supervise and lead a farm team
  • Strong practical knowledge of poultry production and flock management
  • Knowledge of ventilation and climate-control systems, plus poultry biosecurity and welfare requirements
  • Able to read production data and make practical decisions
  • Good communication, organisation and record-keeping
  • Comfortable using computers and farm management systems
  • A calm, reliable approach to operational problems
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Willingness to live on site and join an after-hours and on-call roster
  • A real commitment to animal welfare, workplace safety and production standards
