Christchurch has a permanent full-time opening for a Restaurant Manager who leads by example. The restaurant runs busy, multi-sitting services with a mix of local and international staff, and it needs someone who makes expectations clear and backs the team.

You will open and close the venue, handle cash-up, manage bookings and guest flow at peak times, and help with rosters. You will also coach staff, give honest feedback, keep liquor service responsible and report to the Directors and General Management. Evening and weekend availability is needed, with at least 30 hours a week across 5 days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall performance of front of house
  • Lead and support a diverse team of local and international hospitality staff, coaching them to improve service and performance
  • Set clear expectations for customer service and operating standards
  • Run opening and closing procedures, daily cash-up and cash handling
  • Manage reservations and coordinate bookings
  • Keep guest flow moving efficiently at peak times
  • Help management with staff scheduling and rosters
  • Keep in regular contact with the Directors and General Management
  • Apply workplace policies and procedures consistently, spotting service issues and acting to fix them
  • Build relationships with guests that bring them back, and support efforts to lift customer satisfaction and revenue
  • Monitor team performance, offer constructive feedback and keep the workplace positive and professional
  • Ensure responsible liquor service and compliance, and work with management on efficiency and consistency

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in restaurant management or a comparable senior hospitality position
  • Demonstrated experience managing front-of-house operations
  • Proven ability to lead, train and develop hospitality employees, with a mature, professional approach to people management
  • Strong understanding of busy, multi-sitting restaurants and the ability to manage guest flow during busy trading periods
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building ability
  • Working knowledge of hospitality service standards
  • Sound understanding of liquor service and licensing compliance
  • Strong organisational and decision-making skills, staying calm and effective under pressure
  • Willing to learn venue-specific products, systems and procedures
  • Flexible availability for evening and weekend work, and able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week across 5 days
  • Genuine and verifiable hospitality employment experience
