Retail Manager

If you have run a busy café or food store and enjoy leading people, a hospitality business in Perth, Western Australia wants you as its Retail Manager. You will take charge of the day-to-day running of the store and how it performs.

That means leading and growing the team, keeping service standards high, watching stock and the figures, and making sure workplace and food safety rules are followed every day. Key Responsibilities

  • Run the business day to day and lead store activities on every shift
  • Track sales and profit, and keep labour costs and operating expenses under control
  • Build and manage staff rosters
  • Recruit, onboard and train new staff, then coach, mentor and manage their performance
  • Keep customer service strong and resolve enquiries and complaints professionally
  • Watch inventory, coordinate stock purchasing and run regular stocktakes to cut wastage
  • Look after supplier relationships
  • Review sales reports and act on ideas that lift revenue and efficiency
  • Keep food quality, presentation and service consistent
  • Uphold workplace health and safety standards, food safety regulations and company policies
  • Keep business and operating records accurate
  • Support the growth of the business and the development of the team

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years of full-time experience as a Retail Manager, Café Manager or a similar hospitality management role
  • A background managing a high-volume hospitality or retail operation
  • Experience leading and supervising a team of 10 or more employees
  • Experience preparing staff rosters, managing labour costs, and handling inventory control and purchasing
  • Strong financial management and sales analysis skills
  • Excellent leadership and people management abilities
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Sound problem-solving and business decision-making
  • Experience using POS systems and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
  • Available to work weekends, evenings and public holidays
  • A qualification in Hospitality, Business or Management is advantageous
  • A Food Safety Supervisor Certificate is desirable
  • A First Aid Certificate is desirable
  • Hospitality POS system experience is an advantage
  • Experience opening new stores or managing multiple locations is advantageous
