We are glad to share a Thai Chef job in Hastings, New Zealand, for cooks who know Thai food well. The employer is a Thai restaurant that is well established and much liked in its town.
The work is honest kitchen work. You cook authentic Thai dishes from traditional recipes, with quality ingredients and the correct balance of fresh herbs and spices. The job is permanent and full-time. You will have at least 30 hours each week.
Please note one point about sponsorship. The business is an Accredited Employer under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) scheme.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook authentic Thai dishes. These include curries, stir-fries, soups, salads and entrees
- Ensure all dishes are right in quality, taste and presentation, as the restaurant standards ask
- Manage the daily operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, storage and hygiene compliance, and maintain its cleanliness under all food safety and health regulations
- Assist with menu planning, portion control and stock management
- Supervise the junior kitchen staff and give them training as required
Requirements & Eligibility
- A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience as a Thai Chef is needed, or a relevant qualification in commercial cookery
- Proven experience of cooking authentic Thai cuisine is needed
- Strong knowledge of Thai ingredients, herbs and cooking techniques
- You should be able to work efficiently in a busy kitchen
- Teamwork skills and communication skills, both strong
- Flexibility to work on weekends, in evenings and on public holidays as required
