An accounting practice in Cairns wants an experienced accountant to take charge of a portfolio of small and medium business clients, working at senior level with a path towards a Manager role.
You will deal with clients directly, prepare tax returns and financial statements, and handle Division 7A, CGT and FBT matters with confidence. Advisory projects add variety, and colleagues work closely so every client gets the same careful service. The role suits someone with real Australian public practice experience. Candidates requiring sponsorship may be considered where all professional requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounting and tax work for your own portfolio of SME clients
- Build long-term client relationships and talk with clients directly about accounting, tax and business matters
- Prepare accurate tax returns and financial statements efficiently
- Apply practical Division 7A knowledge and manage Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) matters
- Help clients with accounting and business advisory needs and contribute to advisory and value-added services
- Complete all work to a high professional and compliance standard
- Work with colleagues to give clients consistent results
- Grow your technical and leadership skills towards a Manager role
Requirements & Eligibility
- CA or CPA qualified, or currently nearing completion
- At least 4 years of Australian Public Practice experience
- A strong practical background in Australian tax compliance and hands-on knowledge of Division 7A, CGT and FBT
- Proven experience with SME clients and managing client relationships independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong professional presentation and people skills
- A high level of attention to detail
- A reliable work ethic, a professional attitude and a clear willingness to learn and take on more responsibility
- Able to work well in a collaborative accounting team
