For probashi cooks with strong Indian kitchen skills, here is a role worth a look. An Indian restaurant near Dunedin, New Zealand, needs an Indian Curry / Tandoori Chef. It is a permanent full-time job with at least 30 hours each week.
You will lead busy lunch and dinner services, sometimes on your own and sometimes with the team. You will train kitchen staff and apprentices, and keep the food, plating and cleanliness at the level New Zealand food safety rules require. The restaurant also wants your ideas for new dishes and your help with stock, less waste and sensible costs.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the busy lunch and dinner services, on your own or together with the team
- Supervise and train kitchen staff and apprentices in cooking methods and menu preparation
- Follow New Zealand food safety rules in food preparation, presentation and hygiene
- Help with the menu by suggesting new dishes, and control stock to reduce waste and keep costs efficient
- Speak clearly and politely with customers and staff and help keep the team positive
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 2 years of experience as a chef or above in a commercial kitchen
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong skills in communication and organisation
- Able to work efficiently under pressure and keep the quality consistent
- Ready to work mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Commitment to long-term employment
