A construction business in Sydney with a growing, project-based workload wants a Management Accountant to strengthen its finance team. You will report to the CFO.
You will own the month-end close, from reconciliations and ledger work to the monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reports. After that, you will explain what the results mean for management, help build budgets and forecasts, watch daily cash and keep finance systems and integrations reliable. Construction projects are complex, so you will spend time with operational teams as well as accountants, and you will be expected to suggest better ways of working. Key Responsibilities
- Run month-end accounting and reconciliations
- Keep general ledger records and financial information accurate
- Produce monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reports
- Analyse results and give management clear, useful insight, including financial analysis and reports on request
- Help with the annual budget, ongoing forecasts, overhead planning and performance tracking
- Oversee daily cash management and support cash flow forecasting
- Look for ways to improve finance processes and reporting accuracy
- Keep data reliable across accounting systems and integrations and support efficient finance systems
- Work closely with the CFO, the finance team and operational teams on commercial and project work
Requirements & Eligibility
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline that fits the role
- CA or CPA qualified, or currently progressing towards qualification
- A strong foundation in accounting principles and financial reporting
- Practical month-end accounting experience, plus experience in management reporting, budgeting or forecasting
- Strong Excel and financial systems capability
- Able to analyse financial information, spot issues or opportunities and stay accurate on detail
- Clear communication and professional stakeholder management, working well with finance and non-finance teams
- Construction or project-based accounting experience is advantageous
- Experience with Jobpac is advantageous
- People with strong Big 4 or mid-tier audit or Business Services backgrounds are encouraged to apply
- Those with approximately 6–12 months or more of commercial accounting experience may be considered too
