Have you led a restaurant team in the Gulf, Malaysia or at home? This bidesh opening may interest you: a licensed waterfront restaurant and café near Nelson, New Zealand is hiring a permanent Duty Manager. It seats up to 200 guests, opens every day and is busiest in summer.
Duty Manager means you are in charge of the floor on your shift and you hold the liquor licence for that time. You give the team a short talk before service, guide and coach them, and check that each person follows the systems and checklists. You keep alcohol service safe and legal. At closing you do the cash-up and the handover. The role needs at least 30 hours a week, including weekends and public holidays.
The employer is accredited and may be able to sponsor a work visa for the right person. You can apply only if you already have New Zealand work rights.

Key Responsibilities
- Be in charge of the floor during your shift and show the team the pace and standard
- Hold the licence as Duty Manager, following host responsibility and the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012
- Give a short team talk before service and guide and coach staff during it
- Check that each person follows the venue's systems, checklists and procedures
- Do cash-up, opening, closing and handovers correctly, and handle guest feedback calmly, passing bigger issues to the Restaurant Manager
Requirements & Eligibility
- Duty Manager Certificate (Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012), or able to obtain one promptly
- National Certificate in Food & Beverage Service (Level 3) or equivalent, or working towards it
- Previous experience as a hospitality supervisor or shift leader, with good working knowledge of wine, beverage and food service
- Confidence reading rosters and following wage cost expectations for a shift
- Proficiency with venue systems such as IdealPOS, NowBookIt, Operandio, Slack and Loaded
- The right to work in New Zealand
