A big new hostel and hotel is opening in Auckland, New Zealand, and the company needs a General Manager. This company runs hostels, mixed hotel-hostel stays and food and beverage places in Australia and New Zealand.
As General Manager you lead everything at the property. The heads of Host, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance work under you. You are responsible for guests, team culture, money and following the rules.
You join before the opening. The planned start is January 2027 and the opening is March. Many probashi hotel managers have this kind of opening experience. The company is an accredited employer in New Zealand, which means it is approved to hire from abroad. It takes candidates in New Zealand or overseas and can give visa sponsorship to the right person. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the property; the Host, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance heads report to you
- Be responsible for guests, team culture, money results, standards and compliance
- Before opening, set up the property and its leadership team with the wider team, and shape its culture
- After opening, connect every part of the property, support your leaders and keep teams aligned
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience running a busy hotel or hostel operation
- Understanding of lodging, yield management and what drives commercial performance
- Comfortable with budgets, labour, revenue and cost control
- Some food and beverage exposure, ideally across bars, restaurants or busy social venues
- Knowledge of the Auckland hospitality and lodging scene is helpful but not essential
- A cover letter is required
