Head Chef

Visa sponsorship

Hospitality · Gold Coast, QLD, Australia · Full-Time · Discussed at interview · Visa: Employer sponsored

Many Bangladeshi chefs have led busy kitchens in the Gulf or Malaysia. If that is you, this Head Chef job on the Gold Coast could be your next step abroad, or bidesh. A hospitality group needs one chef to run two venues next to each other: an award-winning grill house cooking smoked barbecue, steaks and burgers, and a 1920s-style cocktail lounge with tapas for sharing and private functions.

The Head Chef reports to the Executive Chef. The job is about menus, people and costs. Visa sponsorship is when an employer backs your visa application. The group welcomes candidates who need it and will support the right person through the process where applicable.

Before you apply, get your CV ready in English. Prepare your Head Chef CV in Build AI CV, and show each kitchen you ran, how big the team was and your cookery qualification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build the menus for both venues, adding seasonal specials and new dishes and controlling what they cost

  • Check that every dish leaves the kitchen right in quality, flavour, presentation and portion

  • Work closely with front of house on service timing, and learn new trends and techniques

  • Proof that you have kept food and labour costs on budget
  • Good knowledge of ordering systems, stock control and how to manage suppliers
  • Experience cooking for functions and banquets
  • Good understanding of food safety and of managing allergens
