Retail leaders, here is a role where your people skills and sales sense really count. An established outdoor and adventure store in Dunedin, New Zealand needs a Store Manager who leads from the shop floor.

You would run daily performance, grow the team's ability and make sure customers get knowledgeable, professional advice on technical gear. The team is about seven people, backed by an experienced Assistant Manager and regional leadership. A real interest in the outdoors helps, and eligible overseas applicants are welcome to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the store's daily performance and retail operations
  • Lead by example with an active presence on the shop floor
  • Coach staff with regular feedback and product training, using the internal training programmes to grow their skills
  • Build a positive culture of accountability, teamwork and customer service
  • Push sales and work towards agreed store KPIs, using commercial insight to respond to opportunities and changing customer needs
  • Look after stock control, store admin, merchandising and operational processes
  • Find ways to make the store more efficient and customers happier
  • Keep customer service, store presentation and operational compliance to a high standard
  • Work closely with the Assistant Manager and regional leadership
  • Help the team build strong knowledge of technical outdoor products and equipment

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven retail leadership as a Store Manager, Assistant Manager, or similar senior role
  • A record of managing, coaching and developing retail staff
  • Strong grasp of sales targets, KPIs and commercial retail performance
  • A confident, hands-on leadership style that motivates a small team while holding clear performance standards
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Sound administration, organisation and operational management
  • Strong communication and decision-making
  • Real enthusiasm for outdoor recreation, adventure, technical clothing, or specialist outdoor equipment
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced, customer-facing retail setting
  • International applicants need relevant and verifiable professional experience
  • Applicants seeking Accredited Employer sponsorship must meet the applicable New Zealand employment and immigration requirements
  • Available for the required Tuesday–Saturday roster
