For probashi safety professionals with senior experience, here is a leadership role in Auckland, New Zealand. A people-focused environmental and engineering consultancy needs a Health and Safety Manager to lead Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) across the country. HSW means keeping people safe and well at work.
You would lead a dedicated HSW team. You would develop the safety systems, maintain them and improve them, support safe work practices and encourage a positive safety culture. You would also give advice to senior leaders and project teams. The company welcomes different kinds of senior HSW experience, from specialists to people who have managed a team or function.
The employer is an Immigration New Zealand accredited employer. This means it can sponsor a work visa called the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).

Key Responsibilities
- Build up the HSW systems, processes and assurance, and keep making them better so the company follows the law and people work safely
- Lead the HSW team and help each member learn and improve through coaching
- Work closely with senior leaders, managers and project teams as their HSW partner
- Create a positive safety culture that puts people first, using learning, training and staff engagement
- Check HSW results, report on hazards, risks, incidents and lessons learned, and drive better results
- Handle important relationships with agencies outside the company, contractors and suppliers
- Make sure HSW systems work well, follow the law and meet ISO standards
Requirements & Eligibility
- A minimum of 5 years working in health and safety in a similar job
- A NEBOSH certificate for occupational health and safety, or a qualification at the same level (equivalent)
- Has used Donesafe or a similar HSW information system, and has managed H&S systems, incidents, risk and contractors
- Has used Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) principles and people-centred safety approaches, such as Safety II or Just Culture
- Very strong at leading and coaching people, and has led a health and safety team
- Very good facilitation, presentation and writing skills, with strong business sense (business acumen)
- Experience from consulting, professional services or engineering is desirable, though it is not essential
- You need a current New Zealand driving licence
