Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in the daily operation of the kitchen and in service preparation
- Prepare, cook and present dishes of high quality that satisfy venue standards
- Support lunch, dinner and weekend service periods so that they run smoothly
- Maintain consistency in the quality of food, in taste, in portion control and in presentation
- Assist with menu preparation, food planning and kitchen workflow, and monitor stock levels, food storage, ordering needs and wastage
- Ensure food safety requirements are respected in the handling, preparation and storage of all food
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene together with workplace health and safety standards
- Support and guide junior kitchen staff where required
- Join with kitchen and front-of-house staff in delivering a positive customer experience
Requirements & Eligibility
- Relevant experience as a Chef or Senior Chef for a minimum of 2–3 years
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, or else an equivalent qualification
- Strong knowledge both of food preparation and of commercial kitchen operations
- Ability to assist the Head Chef with daily operational requirements, and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced restaurant and bar environment
- Strong attention given to detail, consistency and presentation
- Good skills in communication and teamwork
- Sound understanding of workplace safety standards, hygiene and food safety
- Flexible availability, including weekends, public holidays and evenings
- An attitude that is positive, professional and reliable
- Australian work rights which are current at the time of application
